Can I submit just a resume for an advertised vacancy?
No. The Division requires all applicants for employment to submit a Receivership Employment Application (hotlink). You may include a resume with their application but you must complete the application.
Under the "experience" section, your resume can substitute for duties and responsibilities only. If you write "see resume" in any other area, your application may be discarded without notice.
Am I applying for a state position?
No. You are applying for a "receivership" position with the Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Rehabilitation and Liquidation (hereafter called the "Receiver"). Receivership employment is at-will. Employment-at-will means that an employee may resign at any time and the employer may terminate an employee at any time, without or without cause. At-will employment is for no definite period and can end at any time.
In addition, receivership positions are not funded through the legislature but via the insurance companies under this Division's stewardship (i.e. insurance companies in receivership).
On occasion the Receiver does advertise state vacancies. These job opportunity announcements can be found on My Florida at
www.myflorida.com.
If I would not be a state employee, where does my paycheck money come from?
Under 631.271 of the Florida Statutes, all costs and expenses of the Receiver are paid first from the funds of the insurance companies under the Division's stewardship. The costs and expenses of the Receiver include employee salaries.
Can I submit a Receivership Employment Application for the Receiver to keep on file?
No. The Division accepts applications for currently advertised positions only. Unsolicited resumes and applications will be discarded without notice.
Can I submit one application to apply for several positions?
Unless otherwise noted, you must submit a separate application for each position you wish to apply for.
How do I submit a completed employment application to the Receiver?
There are 3 ways you may submit a completed Receivership employment application:

Can I call or e-mail to find out if you've received my application?
Yes. You can call the Division's Human Resources office at (850) 413-4444 or
4444. Our e-mail address is
rehabhr@dfs.state.fl.us.
Once my application is received, how long will it take before I hear from you? Can I call to find out if I am being considered?
Applications are received and reviewed by the Human Resources staff. Applications that meet the minimum qualifications are forwarded to the interviewing supervisor. Because there are so many variables in any recruitment and selection process, we cannot establish an exact deadline.
In addition, we cannot provide the status on individual applications. However, we normally notify applicants via regular mail when a final decision has been made.
What are some of the most common reasons applications are rejected and/or discarded?
Application is not completed in accordance with the Receivership Application Checklist.
Application has missing/incomplete information.
Application is not signed and/or dated.
Application does not indicate the skills, licenses, education, experience, etc. that meet the minimum qualifications.
Application does not include what position is being applied for.
Application is illegible.
I'm currently a state employee. If I accept employment with the Receiver, can I transfer my leave balances and continue with the Florida Retirement System and the State's Deferred Compensation program?
If you are a State employee (career service, SES and SMS) employee and you leave state employment for a receivership position, you cannot transfer your leave balances. You must cash out your balance with your departing state agency.
The Florida Retirement System is portable and the Receiver is a participating entity. Consequently, when you come to work with the Receiver from a state agency, the service credit you earn will be combined with the service credit you earned at the state agency.
The Receiver also participates in the State's Deferred Compensation program. Upon hire, new employees can continue in this program by completing the necessary paperwork.
